Your local choir leader...

Meet George Harry Jones, the friendly face behind Salford’s Local Vocals!

George brings energy, encouragement, and a real love of music to every session.

With a background in music, performance, and teaching, George brings both experience and enthusiasm to every rehearsal.

He’s all about making singing feel fun, relaxed, and accessible, helping people build confidence while enjoying great music together.

Whether you’re a confident singer or a complete beginner, he’ll have you laughing, learning, and singing your heart out in no time.

No pressure. No auditions.

Just great songs, great people, and a brilliant atmosphere.

What our choir members have to say…

'I always thought choirs were stuffy and for people who read music...I was so wrong. Local Vocals for life!'

'The best decision I made this year? To join Local Vocals! Every session is full of joy and the group is inclusive, friendly and so supportive. There is something incredibly special about harmonising with others and sharing in that collective musical experience.'

'No experience necessary, everyone is welcome! Don't hesitate, give it a try!'

What happens at a
Local Vocals Salford session?

Every Tuesday evening, we come together for 90 minutes of singing, laughter and connection.

A typical session includes:
• A warm welcome and time to settle in
• Simple vocal warm ups to get everyone comfortable
• Learning uplifting songs in easy to follow harmony parts
• Singing together with no pressure to perform alone
• Plenty of encouragement, support and a good laugh

No need to read music, just come along and enjoy it.

After the rehearsal, you can log onto the online Members' Area to access your lyrics, harmony tracks and extra resources so you can practise at home if you want to, as well as signing up to sing at local and regional events.

Salford’s Local Vocals is about so much more than singing. It is a chance to step away from the rush of the week, enjoy a relaxed evening, have a laugh and spend time with a wonderful community of local people.

Many of our members join because they love singing, but stay because of the friendships, confidence and sense of belonging that grows week by week.

New to the area, looking to meet people or wanting something for yourself after work? Our Salford evening choir is a brilliant place to connect, unwind and do something uplifting each week.

Coming on your own? Lots of people do and quickly become part of the choir family.
