Laura Bennett-Gornall
Founder of Local Vocals, Laura’s whole life has centred around music. She studied at the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, receiving the Beatles Story Prize from Sir Paul McCartney, and has worked with various choirs & singing ensembles for 14 years.
In 2021, she decided to create her own, truly authentic local singing community, with a real emphasis on supporting local charities in need across the North, championing our local communities.
Laura now leads three thriving Local Vocals choirs in Preston, Chorley & Wigan, as well as supporting the rest of the Local Vocals’ team across the North of the UK.
Local Vocals has grown into a wonderful community of hundreds of local voices, raising tens of thousands of pounds for local causes in need and she truly feels as though she is living the dream.
Founder and Choir Leader

Marie Bennett
After 31 years of teaching, Marie retired from her role as Assistant Headteacher & is now in charge of all things ‘admin’ at Local Vocals; managing the workload involved in the growing company.
Apart from being Laura’s mother(!), Marie is the perfect person for the role and is on hand to help choir leaders & choir members via office@localvocalschoir.com, as well as heading up some of the day-to-day admin involved, liaising with our choir leaders, support teams and being an integral part of our event planning and community outreach.
Admin Manager
Rose Allen
Choir Leader for Altrincham, Prescot, Leigh,
Withington, Haydock & Warrington
Music has been at the heart of Rose’s life from the very beginning. From her first piano lesson at the age of seven, she developed an adoration for listening, studying, and performingmusic - that has only continued to grow.
In 2024, she graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Musical Theatre, from the Royal Conservatoire of Leeds, where she immersed herself in a vibrant and diverse musical community. During her time there, she discovered a true passion for musical direction, which has since shaped her professional journey.
Alongside performing, Rose has dedicated herself to teaching music and theatre to children across the North East, from one-to-one tuition to directing children’s theatre productions. Having been inspired and shaped by so many wonderful teachers and mentors throughout her own journey, she now feels it is her turn to give back - using the power of music to uplift others, create meaningful connections, and bring joy to her community.
