Welcome to Morecambe's Local Vocals - a warm, friendly daytime choir for adults who love music, whether you’ve sung for years or only ever sing along in the car.
There are no auditions, you don’t need to read music, and you’ll never be asked to sing on your own. Just come as you are, grab a brew, find your voice and enjoy singing brilliant songs with a lovely group of local people.

Meet John Wright, the friendly face behind Morecambe’s Local Vocals!
With a background in performance, composition and music education, John brings experience, warmth and encouragement to every rehearsal.
He’s passionate about making singing enjoyable, relaxed and accessible, helping people build confidence while bringing people together through music.
Whether you’re an experienced singer or a complete beginner, John will have you feeling welcome, singing with confidence and enjoying every session in no time.

Once you've reserved your place, we'll send you everything you need to know including a reminder of the time and date of the session.
There is parking on site and you don't need to bring anything with you on the day (other than a bottle of water - singing for 90 minutes can be thirsty work!) You'll be greeted by your choir leader John, and friendly faces who will welcome you into the session - no auditions, no singing alone, just feel-good singing together.

Joining a choir can feel like a big step, especially if you’re worried about walking into a room full of people you don’t know, not being “good enough”, or singing in front of others. That’s exactly why Local Vocals Morecambe is different.
Our choir is relaxed, supportive and full of people who remember what it felt like to come along for the first time. You’ll be welcomed in, shown where to sit, offered a brew and guided through the session by our friendly choir leader.
Whether you’ve sung in a choir before or you’re starting completely from scratch, you’ll be supported every step of the way. All you need is a love of music and a willingness to give it a go.
By the end of your first session, you’ll have sung uplifting songs, met friendly local people and hopefully leave feeling lighter, brighter and glad you came.
No auditions & no musical experience required
If you love music and love to sing along to the radio, you will love Local Vocals!
We don’t read music and there are no auditions so our rehearsals are a safe space for you to simply enjoy singing together. You never have to sing alone and you will be surrounded by like-minded people who are there to give you the confidence you need.
Support local charities
The ethos of our choir centres around supporting our local communities through the joy of singing! So far, we have supported several local charities including Derian House, East Lancashire Hospice and Lancashire Mind and we regularly perform and collaborate with local charities to fundraise in a fun and unique way.

Morecambe's Local Vocals is about so much more than singing. It’s a place to get out of the house, enjoy a proper brew, have a laugh, meet people from your local area and feel part of something positive each week.
Many of our members join because they love singing, but they stay because of the friendships, the confidence and the feeling of belonging.
Whether you’ve recently moved to the area, retired, had a change in routine, or simply want to do something uplifting for yourself, our Morecambe choir is a brilliant way to connect with like-minded people.
You're more than welcome to come on your own. In fact, lots of people do. We’ll make sure you’re looked after!

What happens at a
Local Vocals Morecambe session?
Every Monday morning, we come together for 90 minutes of singing, laughter and connection.
A typical session includes:
• A warm welcome and time to settle in
• Simple vocal warm ups to get everyone comfortable
• Learning uplifting songs in easy to follow harmony parts
• Singing together with no pressure to perform alone
• Plenty of encouragement, support and a good laugh
No need to read music, just come along and enjoy it.
After the rehearsal, you can log onto the online Members' Area to access your lyrics, harmony tracks and extra resources so you can practise at home if you want to, as well as signing up to sing at local and regional events.
