Singing together has so many benefits for our young people...

The Local Vocals' story so far...
Our community choirs began in 2021 during lockdown, when founder Laura, from Preston, decided to try and bring a little joy to those dark and uncertain times by singing together online. Local people loved what we were about, and our communities quickly grew across Lancashire and then across the region.
So, why do people love Local Vocals?
Our choirs break down the barriers that other choirs might put in place. We don't expect our choir members to be singers (we believe that we can all sing!), you never have to sing alone, and our sessions are inclusive, friendly and uplifting. We sing popular, feel-good songs, learning by rote (no sheet music!) and have some amazing performance opportunities locally and regionally.
Local by name, local by nature
What makes Local Vocals different is our emphasis on localism and celebrating our local communities through singing, performance and fundraising for local causes. We have currently raised over £56,000 for local charities in need including North West Air Ambulance, Lancashire Mind & Derian House.
Singing for the next generation
We have seen how much Local Vocals has positively impacted over 1,000 people's lives across the North of the UK and we are so excited for the opportunity to bring this experience to young people in Lancashire.
Singing opportunities for young people typically fall under expensive vocal tuition or audition-based choral settings, so we're really proud to expand the Local Vocals magic to children this year.
We are imagining several generations of the same family singing together at future performances, belting it out loud and proud. What a magical experience to be able to offer to our communities 🥹✨

What our choir members
have to say…

BOOK A TASTER FOR PRESTON'S KIDS CHOIR!
What happens next?
After you've booked your child's taster session, you'll receive an email confirming the rehearsal date, time and location.
On the day, your child doesn't need to bring anything with them (other than maybe a bottle of water and a light snack - singing can be thirsty work!). You'll be greeted by our friendly team of choir leaders who have enhanced DBS and lots of experiencing working with children.
The 90 minute taster session will include a joyful vocal warm ups and games, confidence-building exercises and high-energy rehearsal teaching feel-good songs in harmony. Your child will never be expected to sing alone, audition or read music.
When your child's taster session is complete and they have undoubtably LOVED it(!), you can sign them up to become an official Local Vocal on our website, where they'll have access to the online members' area to practise their harmonies from home, order their Local Vocals t-shirt and sign up to sing at local events.
Our kids choirs rehearse in 3 x 12 week terms per year, similar to school terms. As a Local Vocal, they can attend as many kids choir sessions as they like per week as part of their subscription.
